Beitouna, a community organisation in Lebanon
News of the International Movement ATD Fourth World
During her recent visit to Lebanon, Diana Skelton, Deputy Director General of ATD Fourth World, met with members of the Beitouna Association.
Links between ATD Fourth World and Beitouna, especially its founders Sako Matossian and Sr Thérèse Ricard, two of the most active members, were first established in 2002. For several years, contacts developed through the Permanent Forum on Extreme Poverty in the World and led to the participation of Beitouna in the Permanent Forum’s Mediterranean Seminar in Aix-en-Provence in September 2005.
The Beitouna Association brings together children and adults in Beirut, building solidarity with and respect for those who are the most vulnerable, both within the community and worldwide.
