Participatory research "Violence suffered by people in poverty"
The three-year international participatory action research project is considering the violence faced by people living in extreme poverty, and understanding the role of all stakeholders in forging pathways toward peace
Throughout this project, led by the Joseph Wresinski International Centre, people living in extreme poverty, alongside other stakeholders, have each considered their own experiences in this area. Together, they have shared the tools needed for each person to develop her or his own analysis of these experiences. Participants have used a range of methods, based on the Merging of Knowledge approach, to forge a greater understanding of physical, social and institutional violence. They have considered how these forms of violence create and reinforce extreme poverty, as well as acts of resistance undertaken to stem violence.
The Colloquium 2012: Extreme poverty is Violence: Breaking the Silence will conclude this project
